Intermediate/Advanced Acting

Ages: 12 +

Students will read and discuss a full length or one act play.  With a partner, the students will work on a scene from the play, learning specific techniques of character development and blocking as well as vocal and physical delivery.  While working with a dramatic script, we will examine various elements of script analysis and application through a variety of games, exercises, and other activities. This course is intended for mature students with a moderate to advanced level of theatre experience.

Students will work on a performance of a scene or One Act.  While in rehearsal, students will learn basic acting principles and be given ample platform for practicing these techniques.

Beginning Public Speaking

Ages 8-12, 13+

In the 8 class periods, students will learn the basic skills of public speaking and have several opportunities to practice them through a variety of presentations.  Students learn how write speeches and also gain self confidence speaking in front of an audience.

Solo Performance

Class time dependent on enrollment.

Ages: 13 +

This class focuses on the skills of performing a monologue, and other types of solo presentations of literature.  Each student will present a selection of prose or dramatic script, and poetry.  Through games, exercises, peer feedback, and other activities, we will explore different styles and techniques of a solo performance.  Students will read a variety of literature and spend some time focusing on what it can teach us as well as how we can impact an audience with the words of another.  This is a good course to take as a precursor for competitive Oral Interpretation, and as a preparation for theatrical audition monologues.

Open Theatre

We will be putting on a one act play to be performed in conjunction with the Winter production.  This class is $50 per student.

Tuition for all classes is $90 for all classes unless otherwise noted.
